For my first post, I would like to tell a little about myself. Nothing too descriptive, this is the internet! I live in the United State (general, no?). I am still in high school, but I am itching to get out. Everybody always tells you to make the most of these times in high school. They are, apparantly, the best times of your life. I’m not saying that this is completely wrong and that high school is the worst time of anyone’s life, I’m just saying that it can’t possibly be the BEST. Small classes with restricted freedoms…not exactly my definition of the best. I haven’t reached the age to which I can legally go to clubs… (too specific?) I have a curfew. The most that I can do is go to Wal-mart and Waffle House at 2 AM.
I’m ready to leave high school and go to college. I’m ready to get out of my parent’s house. I’m ready to be more independent for a change. There is so much more that I could be doing. But, in the 5 hours that I am willing to do homework after school, there’s not much time to do anything OTHER than homework. I relax and eat dinner for about an hour. Then work, work, work.
Scratch the fact that I am ready to go to college. I am ready to go out in the real world and get a job. I am ready to not have work follow me home. However, I’m probably just dreaming. You can’t ever escape work…for example, small business owners practically work 24/7. Which really stinks because I would love to open up my own business. Honestly, I want to open up a chain of really nice Italian restaraunts. But, that’s been done before. About a million times over.
Another option for me is to become a doctor. And be on call ALL THE TIME. Right, not really how I want to live my life…after med school. Which takes a long time. There’s a reason why doctors get paid so much, they have such high student loan rates to pay once they get out of school!
Anyways, I would really appreciate it if someone could comment and give me some ideas for jobs. Family is really important to me, and I don’t want my work to consume all of my time. But, I am willing to work hard at anything. I do not want an easy, lazy job where all you have to do is show up for 8 hours and then go home. No, I want a job in which I can put all of my education to the test. Heck, why else am I in school for 16 plus years?
